Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Half Marathon | 10k | 5K 2/5/2023

Every year when I run this event, it just amazes me that I can finish, whether it's rain or shine, motivated or not, I seem to find a way to finish something I started.  Over the years depending on my health or motivation, I would run either a  5K, or 10K, or of course the half marathon. This year, I ran the 10K,  or 6.2 miles. The training leading up to this event was minimal but focused. This year, for the first time it rained at the start of the race. It was cold, but I was prepared to do a descent run at this year's 10K.  When I start my run, I always reminded myself to "stay in your lane", forget the people who lined up behind me are playing catch up because they were late or in the wrong pace lane. Or people chatting away while running. I made sure not to get discouraged if I'm the last one in the sea of runners trying to be one up on each other. I try to be in a Zen mode. Although I do miss running along with others, but I get a good feeling of running by m...

Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Half Marathon | 10k | 5K 2/2/2020

Last run before the Covid-19 epidemic started.  I ran the 10k that year. It was tough but I had fun as fellow runners were quite encouraging and spirited. Little did they know a pandemic was about to occur.

The San Francisco Half Marathon 2014 Registration Confirmation - I Made a Committment!

Ok. It's official, I decided to train for a marathon, well half at least. But today, as I start my 3-4 week run, a huge rain storm is coming into the bay area. http://www.thesfmarathon.com/the-races/second-half-marathon / The 2nd Half Marathon covers the second half of The San Francisco Marathon. The race starts at Spreckel’s Lake in Golden Gate Park and finishes on the Embarcadero alongside the Main Marathon Finish Line. It passes through Haight/Ashbury, the Mission District, into Mission Bay, and passes AT&T Park, finishing just before the Ferry Building alongside the Main Marathon Finish Line. The course is USATF certified and is a Boston Marathon qualifying race.

~ My 1st Running Event of the Year! 2014 Kaiser Permanente San Francisco 5K ~

Every year, I take the time to include this run - sort of a kick off to start the new year intent on continuing to be in good health and personal motivation. But I'm such a slow runner these days. It could be that this year's run was raining. It hasn't happened in a while but I can't use weather as an excuse. I've ran in the rain before minus thousands of people crowded around me. To kick off the year, my time was really slow on this particular run. In year's past, I've run this same running event a few half marathons or relegate to the 5K just in case I may not finish. This event is usually a springboard to my other runs into the new year. This year however, I'm considering finishing a half marathon to celebrate my ability to do it and with a good finishing time. In the case of running full marathons in the past, I finish a full, then I'm done, there's no zip to my step and I can't go anywhere but hop into bed and nap that afternoo...
